Our Horses

We have a unique approach to our trail riding in that you can ride as much or as little as you want. Our trail rides are not scheduled but rather planned according to when you want to ride. When we say unlimited horseback riding...we mean it. We have literally millions of acres to discover and explore.

We have very gentle, trustworthy horses that will allow you to build confidence in your riding skills and enjoy the magnificent scenery here on horseback.  Our horses are very responsive and are well accustomed to covering the vastly different terrain you will experience while at our ranch. While occasionally necessary, we make every effort to avoid 'nose to tail' trail riding at Geronimo Trail Guest Ranch! We want you to improve your horseback riding skills by not only learning the basics but also understanding how your horse reacts and thinks. We have spent a great deal of time finding gentle yet responsive and rugged mounts.

We maintain a small wrangler to guest ratio so someone will always be close to answer your questions, offer tips or just take your picture.

YOUR SAFETY will always be our first priority. Our wranglers are horse professionals. They are very skilled at matching riders to horses they will be comfortable with yet will find enjoyable and challenging to ride. You will be paired with the same horse during your entire stay unless you request a different one or our wranglers feel you would be better suited to another mount.

We do a variety of games on horseback at all gaits so we can accommodate all ages and levels of riding skills. We also spend some time learning to rope.  We teach you how to handle and twirl a lariat and then practice roping a "dummy cow " on foot.  This is a fun activity for both children and adults alike.

We have miniature horses and miniature donkeys barely 32 inches tall. 

Most children delight in taking these minis for walks, brushing them or painting them like Indian ponies with their own designs.
